The Ariane 5 rocket, which carries the cargo spacecraft ATV-2 Johannes Kepler to the ISS, finally took off yesterday evening (around 23 noon, French, 18 hours at Kourou). Liftoff, scheduled for Feb. 15, has been delayed one day by security (problems related measures liquid oxygen tank). Injection orbit successfully, and the ATC-2 has a long road ahead of a week in orbit to catch up gradually the station.
The rocket launch is always an impressive event to see, and not from the ground. Here is a photo taken yesterday by the European astronaut Paolo Nespoli, himself aboard the station.
